"He came to that which was his own, but his own did not receive him. Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God—children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband's will, but born of God" (John 1: 11 - 13, NIV).

How to Pray: Prayer is a conversation with God. It doesn't have to be fancy. It only needs to be honest. The Bible says, "And when you pray, do not keep on babbling like pagans, for they think they will be heard because of their many words. Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask him" (Matthew 6: 7 - 8, NIV).
How to Apply the Word: When you read the Word of God, with the Holy Spirit's help, your mind is changed. You begin to agree with God. You begin to agree with the truth. Believing God is the first step. Your next step is to act as one who believes. Think to yourself, Because I believe what God has said about _____, I now do _____. It is this loop of believing God and acting on this belief that will transform your life! Remember the core truth, that the Holy Spirit is the One who will help you to do what believing God requires, even when it is hard.
