Love Lifted Me: The Story of Four Women Who Were Changed By God
Thank you for ordering the Study!
Love Lifted Me is an invitation to see God at work in the lives of women who, though separated from us by over 2000 years, are really just like us: earthen vessels made spectacular by God’s light-fallen countenances that were lifted by the love of God.
Carolyn Sinclair McCalla and Be-Held Writers, Sharon Austin and Margaret Armstrong, trace God’s loving hand in the lives of four women: Rahab, Ruth, Bathsheba and Mary. They guide your exploration of how the love of God transformed the reality of their lives and how their testimonies teach us to exalt our good God in the face of life’s hardships. They invite you to reflect on the witness of God ’s love in your life and gain confidence in the power of His love to lift you from even the deepest depths.
Your Study includes:
1. Guided study and meditation on selected
Scripture readings for each woman.
2. Guided exploration of your walk with God based
on the topics and themes that emerge in the
selected Scripture readings for each woman.
3. Practical suggestions for implementing the
principles outlined in Scripture to your life.
4. An invitation and guided exercise to support you
in sharing your own story of the transformational
power of God’s love.

Hear what women are saying:
"I think this study will be helpful as it gives women a set of norms in how to actively read the Bible. The lesson study questions, though focused on specific women, give women a model of the questions they should approach the Bible with to get a better and deeper understanding of the message they are reading. It also is not fashioned in a manner that is intimidating or requires advanced and specified knowledge to answer the questions. One aspect of this lesson study that I truly appreciated was the portion where the woman of study was given voice. This is something that is a unique element I have thought about but have not seen manifested in this manner. I believe it sets this lesson study apart. I think it is powerful in that it helps those who are studying to personalize the woman that they are studying. It removed the alienation that the reader might have and forces them to see the humanity and the realness of the woman. They might see this woman in themselves ( and if not themselves, then someone that they may know). Hopefully this will be the start among the women indulging in this study to continue this process of reanimating the women in the Bible and also other people/elements they read about in the Bible through the guidance of the Holy Spirit."
"I think this was very instrumental in helping me out of a spiritual slump just now. It allowed me to reflect on the past me, how I've grown thus far and my prospects for more growth, all through the lives of these ladies."
"Since this study provides excellent references to relevant Scriptures on the subject at hand, the study will provide good support for women and gaining independence in accurately reading the Bible must be an inevitable by-product of the rigorous study [the] Be-Held [Writers] encourage. I believe it will help women to process heart issues that are significant to them because the way the study is written encourages the participants to reflect not only on Scripture as on the page, but also their own feelings about it. I believe it will be effective in helping women see the impact of God‘s love in their lives because all these women are ordinary/ damaged women who, through God’s love, achieve many things beyond their expectations. Additionally, the study has “God's love” as the main focus point running through[out]."
- Karene Stanley-Jones
"The study would be helpful in helping women with heart issues as it covers a number of those issues. Mary had to deal with rejection not only by her community but also by Joseph. She was a pregnant unwed mother and Joseph knew it wasn't his child. Everyone suffers rejection at some point but she provides us with an example of how we can handle rejection. Ruth on the other hand gives us examples as to how to deal with sadness, disappointment and happiness as we see how she persevered in each stage. The women highlighted in the study are great examples of God's love for us. It reminds us that no matter who we are - Rahab was a harlot and Ruth was a Moabite. The study reminds us that regardless of who we are and what we do, God still loves us and would seek us out."
"Women may experience various challenges [with] self-identity, depression, loss of a family member, job, doubt, and [or] fear. This study enables them to search Scriptures, learn God's promises, His attributes [and] reflect on how He has answered prayers, made provisions, and delivered [in the past] as they study the lives of women in the Bible."
