Your Love: A Firm Foundation

Read |Matthew 11:28-30|

 "Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light." (Matthew 11:28 - 30, NKJV)

Here our Lord extends an invitation to come, and the promise of rest. If we come, He will give the rest. We come by faith: our stepping an acknowledgement that we agree with His Word about Himself and our true state. We step in agreement that we are finite, though dearly valued creatures, dependent on the faithfulness of the limitless God. And in perfect anticipation of the temptation to shrink from the vulnerability this truth demands, He reassures us, "I am gentle and lowly in heart".  He continues, "My yoke is easy and My burden is light". In other words, I know that this world promises acceptance only in exchange for your usefulness (and it's never quite clear when you are useful enough).  But, with Me, you will not need to worry about your usefulness. Yes you will labor. But, you will labor from a place of acceptance. My love is a firm foundation. I extend it to you that you may build your life without striving, and with great joy expect that all you do will last.
