Read |Genesis 16|Hagar was a woman owned; She was a woman given; She was a woman used; She was a woman seen as a means to an end; She was a woman mistreated and embittered; And because of all these things, she became a woman on the run. And it was while on the run she became a woman found. "The angel of the LORD found her by a spring in the wilderness, the spring on the way to Shur." (Genesis 16: 7, CSB). And it was here in the wild place that she became a woman with a promise: '“I will greatly multiply your offspring, and they will be too many to count.”' (Genesis 16:10, CSB). It was in the wilderness that she, who had become accustomed to being seen through the lens of others' needs, came to see that she was seen and heard by God. (Genesis 16:13). A God who saw her suffering; A God who heard her cry; A God who met her to say: "I promise. I will give you. I will provide for you." A God who came to minister to her needs; A God who was unwilling to bypass her on the way to some other 'glorious' end; A God who had her in mind. Beloved, God sees you. He sees your pain. He sees your concerns. He sees your disappointment. He sees your every need. He hears your every cry. He sees and hears all things pertaining to you, and has made up His mind to extend His strength on your behalf all the days of your life. Will you have eyes to see Him, who already sees you? Will you have ears to hear Him, who already hears you? May your eyes be opened. May your ears be pierced. May your heart's expectation be lifted and placed in God, who will never fail you. In Jesus' name, amen.
