Dear Hopelessness, You who have gripped my life for so long. You who have robbed me of my happiness, stolen my joy, blinded my vision of opportunities and distorted my concept of self and identity; I am writing to let you know that my chattels are broken. I have found renewed hope in the resurrected Christ. You have no hold on me anymore because Jesus Christ has redeemed me and "I am free to lift my hands; free to say amen; free, that I can smile again; free to laugh, not cry; free to live, not die; because of Jesus’ love I am free." (Kirk Franklin & One Nation Crew, Free). Although the journey to getting here has been rough, and though I wondered if you would ever pass, I was determined that you had to. While you held me captive in that pit, it was hard to see how God would bring me out. People would tell me “this too shall pass,” but in the middle of you no encouraging word would take. But, God's Word, I found comfort in it. Especially in His declaration,'"My grace is all you need, for my power is greatest when you are weak' I am most happy, then, to be proud of my weaknesses, in order to feel the protection of Christ's power over me." (2 Corinthians 12:9). Today I relish in the strength of my God. My hope is in Him. My dreams and aspirations are fueled by His grace and mercies. Though my life knows its share of cares and troubles, I can face them with hope, confidence and joyful expectation because God has promised me that he will be my comforter in the time of tribulation and distress. (Psalm 27:5). He says “Come to me, all of you who are tired from carrying heavy loads, and I will give you rest.” (Matthew 11:28, GNT). I don’t have to carry my burdens. I have the liberty of pinning them to the cross, where He took on all my grief. And because He was not overwhelmed by the grief, but rose victorious on the third day by the Spirit of God that now lives in me, so will I. Hopelessness, as the Psalmist David wrote, “I prayed to the Lord, and he answered me; he freed me from all my fears. The oppressed look to him and are glad; they will never be disappointed.” (Psalm 34:4-5, GNT). Hello hope! Get access to your Peace of Mind Self-Care Kit here.
