Read |Psalm 50:15|Integrity is defined as the state of being undivided or complete. (Merriam Webster Online Dictionary). A person who has integrity lives and moves in perfect congruence with the unseen realm of her heart. She thinks, speaks and does as she is. Her doing is a consequence of her being. As God's children we are called to live with integrity, our identity in Jesus Christ. We are to live as He lives, because we have been made, and are being made, as He is. (Hebrews 10:14).
Everything pertaining to our God speaks of who He is. His words and actions all work together to declare He is good and God alone. Frequently, throughout Scripture we see that God speaks and moves in order to reveal to us an aspect of His character upon which He wants us to depend. To downtrodden Hagar, He appeared as The God Who Sees. (Genesis 16:13). To faithful Abraham, He intervened and became known as The God Who Provides. (Genesis 22:14). To Moses and the Israelites, He showed Himself to be a Banner. (Exodus 17:15). To the hungry, The Bread of Life. (John 6:35). To the thirsty, The Living Water (John 4:10). To every soul plunged under His fountain of blood, Savior (Acts 13:23). In His doing He draws a straight arrow to His being, so that we might know Him more fully. He reveals another aspect of His character and gives us a name we may call specifically. Every name He teaches us is a promise, for not only is He undivided and complete--He is unchanging. (Hebrews 13:8). We can rely on His revealed character. We can be confident, no matter our presented need, that He will be who satisfies. We can utter His names as prayer, confident that He will answer as He did for the saints of old.
